Tortilla Tutorial

It was a scorcher of a day and there was not much to do ( still waiting for the budget from the architect ), except throw back a few icy cold cervezas and stare at the ocean.  We got a little hungry so Maggie decided to make me privy to her deceased madres secret recipe for guacamole, made in a molcajete ( mortar and pestle ), fantastico! Several more cervezas later, Maggie attempted to teach me how to make tortillas from scratch, not so fantastico…the dogs wouldn’t even eat them…and we’re talking beach dogs…that will eat a piece of rotten fish covered in sand…Maggie found this quite hysterical.  Anyhoo, undaunted, I made my way to el Mercado and bought a molcajete, tortilla press, comal ( to cook the tortillas on ) and some masa dough.
